A great family ride or walk, with largely flat scenic sections that will take you from 2 to 8 kilometres return, with the opportunity for more experienced cyclists to connect to Federation Trail for a longer ride.
Werribee River Trail winds alongside the Werribee River from Tarneit to Wyndham Park in Werribee.
You can start your journey at many entry points including Presidents Park, West End Car Park in Werribee City Centre or Werribee Train Station.
Presidents Park Loop (2 kilometres)
Enter Presidents Park from McGrath Road and park next to the playground. From here the kids can loop through the park, with public toilets and a drinking fountain nearby. Keep your eye out for pedestrians and the Saturday morning Park Run.
Presidents Park to Wyndham Park (6 kilometres)
From Presidents Park take any connecting path towards the Werribee River Trail and then turn right (south), travelling on either side of the river towards Werribee. Just past Cottrell Street, you’ll arrive at Wyndham Park, with two epic playgrounds to explore, loads of cafes on Watton Street, public toilets, water fountains and a bike repair station.
Presidents Park to Riverbend Historical Park (8 kilometres)
From Presidents Park take any connecting path towards the Werribee River Trail and then turn left (north) to make your way up into Tarneit using the shared path trail.
Cross the river at the Shaw’s Road Bridge and ride approximately 4 kilometres, passing the Diversion Weir to Riverbend Historical Park, which includes barbeques and picnic tables.
The trail finishes just off MacLean Court, with return along the same route to Presidents Park.
