Go on safari, catch a keeper talk and see rhino calf Jabulani at Werribee Open Range Zoo. If the weather’s warm pack the kids bathers and enjoy a splash at Hippo Beach. See an A-League match at Ironbark Fields
Cheer on Western United FC at their home ground at Ironbark Fields in Tarneit, with matches on 29 December and 3, 17 and 21 January. Tickets via Ticketek ($5 – $15) including pre-match entertainment and activities.
Go to the National Clydesdale & Heavy Horse Festival
Love horses? Enjoy a day out with the family at the National Clydesdale & Heavy Horse Festival from 18 – 19 January in Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre. Stop by for a pat and a photo, watch them in the show ring and enjoy food trucks and face painting. General admission is $10 kids under 16 free.
Tee off at The Elements Coastal Activity Park
Ditch screen time for sea time, at The Elements Coastal Activity Park! Grab a coffee or lunch at the newly-renovated 3030 Waterfront enjoy those bayside views and tackle the outdoor mini golf course. There’s no need to book ahead – drop in from 7.30am, with tickets from just $5 - $15 or $40 for a family of four.
The Elements Coastal Activity Park are also running two school holiday Australian animal art sessions, with oil pastels on 9 January and Water Colours on 23 January ($40 per session), with bookings via 03 9233 8530.
Go to the Beach
Kick back and relax at Werribee South Beach. Along the foreshore you’ll find public toilets and BBQs, two playgrounds and great coastal walk to Wyndham Harbour. Lifesaving Victoria lifeguards will be on duty at Werribee South Beach daily from 11am to 7pm between Saturday 21 December 2024 and Sunday 26 January 2025, and on weekends from 1 to 23 February 2025.
Enjoy a family day out at the races
Enjoy a day of country racing with the family at Werribee Racecourse at their Kids Day Out on Friday 10 January. General admission is just $10 for adults with children 17 and under free with an accompanying adult.
Get crafty at Pinot and Picasso
Pinot and Picasso Werribee have got you covered these school holidays with a range of kids sessions for ages 5+ where they'll create their very own masterpiece to take home ($39).
Head indoors for laser tag and arcade fun
Weather not looking so great? Holey Moley and Strike Bowling have joined forces with a huge indoor venue in Point Cook, featuring 24 lanes of ten pin bowling, laser tag, arcade with VR set up and 18-themed holes of mini golf fun. Bookings essential.
Explore the free RAAF Museum
Marvel at the RAAF Museum’s huge collection of jets, helicopters, propellor planes and interactive displays. The free museum is open on Thursdays and Sundays with online bookings essential.
Picnic in Victoria State Rose Garden
Already ticked off Werribee Park Mansion? The Victoria State Rose Garden is a stunning spot for a picnic at this time of year, with plenty of rolling lawns for the kids to run around. Entry is free – with gold coin donation encouraged to support the work of the volunteers who maintain the garden.

Enjoy the old-school cool of an outdoor pool at Werribee Outdoor Pool or head to AquaPulse for indoor pools, water play and waterslides.
