National Clydesdale & Heavy Horse Festival: Weekend Planner

The National Clydesdale & Heavy Horse Festival returns to Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre from 18 – 19 January 2025.

Whether you’re competing this year, part of a support crew or drawn by the chance to see these gentle giants up close, make the most of your weekend in Werribee and Surrounds.


EAT & DRINK

Indulge with High Tea in Werribee Park
The Refectory Parlour and Joseph’s Dining at Lancemore Mansion Hotel both offer delicious high tea packages on Saturdays and Sundays, with bookings essential. 

Cellar Door Tastings at Shadowfax Winery
Shadowfax Winery will be open all weekend for cellar door tastings or a long lunch (lunch bookings recommended). Dinner bookings are also available on Friday and Saturday nights but you’ll need to be quick!

Dinner and a Nightcap
From a relaxed pub meal at Bridge Hotel Werribee or The Park Werribee, to Italian classics at Il Matto and Tocca, late night Mexican at Casa Cantina or top drops at Werribee’s secret wine bar Corked– you’re spoilt for options on Werribee’s own ‘eat street’, Watton Street.

Coffee and Brunch
From the perfect Eggs Benny to Biscoff French Toast – start your day right with a relaxed brunch from the excellent cafes in Werribee City Centre. For quick grab and go options, try The Little Deli & Panini Bar, Chatterbox Café, Three Little Pigs, Lebanese bakery Manoushi, or gourmet sandwich hot spot Tuckers.

Pick up Picnic Supplies
Camping onsite? Drop into nearby Wyndham Cache or The Little Deli & Panini Bar to stock up on fresh gourmet produce and sweet treats.

Explore Werribee Park Mansion
Take time to explore the beautifully restored interiors of Werribee Park Mansion, entry from $8.50 - $11.90 per person, with family packages available.

See an A-League match at Ironbark Fields
Cheer on Western United FC  at their home ground at Ironbark Fields in Tarneit just a short drive away as they take on Newcastle Jets on the evening of Friday 17 January. Tickets via Ticketek ($5 – $15) including pre-match entertainment and activities.

Cool off at Werribee South Foreshore
Beat the heat at Werribee South Foreshore. Life-Saving Victoria will be patrolling the beach from 11am – 7pm daily.

Tee off at Wyndham Harbour
Enjoy a round of mini golf with bayside views at The Elements Coastal Activity Park, followed by lunch at 3030 Waterfront or an ice cream. 

Go on safari at Werribee Open Range Zoo
Spot giraffe, zebra and the rhino herd, including new calf Jabulani out on the African savannah at Werribee Open Range Zoo and enjoy a splash at Hippo Beach. Plus zoo entry is free for children under 16 during weekends and public holidays! Bookings recommended.

Go to the Theatre
Werribee Park Mansion makes for a pretty incredible stage – especially after dark, with Essence Productions’ performance of The Dress on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 January. Bookings Essential.

Take in the stunning blooms at Victoria State Rose Garden
Enjoy a stroll through the beautiful Victoria State Rose Garden, just a short walk from Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre. Entry is free – donations welcome.
